Serious foot conditions leave NFL athletes on the sidelines...

To my dismay, I am officially out of the fantasy football playoffs!  My season was filled with player injuries and underperformance.  Maurice Jones Drew (pictured above) was one of my top draft picks that has been in a walking boot and crutches for much of the season.

Can foot injuries be prevented amongst athletes?

Dr Michael Coughlin, a leading foot and ankle expert believes the answer is YES!  In preventing these types of injuries Dr Couglin reports that "It's really the cleat pattern and the stiffness of the shoe that we found makes the difference."

The NFL has consulted with Dr Coughlin, who has since met with shoe companies to help them develope shoe gear that may help to prevent these injuries.

Say "GOODBYE" to those funky toenails...

You DON'T have to live with yellow toenails any longer!

Do you have nails that are yellow, brittle and/or thickening?  If so, it is likely that you have a fungal nail infection.  Although there are other causes of nail discoloration and thickening (Psoriasis, Previous injury to the nail) the primary cause is fungus within the nail.  There are several treatment options for this condition including oral Lamisil, topical Jublia or topical ClearNails Pro.   Additionally we recommend taking the vitamin supplement Biotin and using a shoe sanitizing spray to prevent reoccurrence of the condition.

Call our office or send an appointment request through our website to have your nails evaluated!

Peripheral neuropathy... New diagnostic procedure can help us treat you!

Do you or your loved one suffer from burning, numbness or tingling sensations in your feet?  This condition is often associated with diabetes, thyroid conditions or vitamin deficiencies.

We can help!

There is a new diagnostic procedure, called an epidermal nerve fiber density biopsy, that can help us make a diagnosis of neuropathy.  This biopsy (which is done in the office) gives us insight as to the extent of the nerve damage and can help us make clinical decisions to help alleviate your symptoms.
